Niles Pride is a community group in Niles, Illinois supporting the LGBTQIA+ population in Niles and the surrounding suburbs and promotes gender identity and expression and consensual love in all its forms. Niles Pride is made up of members of the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies.
Come join us on Saturday June 21st at 11am for our third annual Pride Walk! Come gather together with us at Kirk Lane Park in Niles, IL. We’ll begin with some quick speeches and then go on a one mile walk/ride/roll around the neighborhood. Afterwards, please join us for a picnic in the park and activities!
Bring your colors, rainbows, pride flags, and protest signs. Whatever makes you feel proud and exuberant. Everyone is welcome to come in support of our LGBTQIA+ community members.
For more information, see our Facebook event HERE.
We’re hosting our third annual Niles Pride Walk and Picnic. Part of our mission is to ensure that everyone can participate and feel welcome in the community, so we provide everything at the event for free, including activities and food for the picnic. In order to keep our event going, we rely on donations from our community members, local leaders, and volunteers. We appreciate anything people can contribute to keep Niles Pride an active force in the northwest suburbs.
We’re planning to support local businesses to provide food and water for the approximately 120 people who come to support LGBT rights in Niles. We’d also like to purchase a couple of folding tables and a pop up tent to use exclusively for Niles Pride, things we’ve currently been borrowing.
This year we have set up a GoFundMe to help defray expenses for our event and keep it free for attendees. If you are interested in supporting us, please consider donating here (or click the button below).
You can support the LGBTQIA+ community best by being a good ally, by welcoming us as equal members of the greater Niles community, and by supporting us against homophobia, transphobia, and bigotry. You can learn about issues and actions and legislation affecting the LGBTQIA+ community and donate to LGBTQIA+ organizations. Call your senators and representatives and let them know they need to support the LGBTQIA+ community and fight against transphobic and homophobic legislation. Please see below for a list of organizations that help our community.
